Music Video Ideas

  • Narrative video
Song: What Do I Know- Ed Sheeran:

This song is good to use because not only does it fit the themes that I want to focus on for my video it also doesn't have a music video so I won't be able to be influenced by the original music video. I also really love this songs message of love being more powerful than anything in the world.
My idea for my music video is to show a young boy listening to this song and believing that he is Ed Sheeran. I want the narrative of the video to be the boy filming his own music video. I want the props used in the video to be very amateurish such as a homemade guitar and a booklet that relates to the lyrics "Politics" and "Religion". I want the final message of the video to always come back to family and have the video end on the family at the dinner table together.

Amazon Go Promotional Video

The setting of the video is a supermarket, which is a relatable setting for pretty much anyone. The voice over and the range of middling and close ups show us the Amazon Go being used as people do their shopping which allows people to see how the Amazon Go will benefit them in their everyday tasks and will make them more likely to purchase one.

The non-diegetic voice over used in the Amazon Go has an informal mode of address, the lack of jargon used in the video makes the video more accessible to a wider audience range meaning an increase in the sales of the Amazon Go.

Gantt Chart

I made this Gantt Chart to plan the best use of my time and keep myself on track to complete the promotional video on time. I wanted to make sure I was using my time wisely and was always working on something.

Footage used

Day One:
Although I struggled with the exposure on first shooting session I was still able to use most of my interior shots of the cars. I got my favourite shot on day one of filming, the champagne bottle. This is my favourite due to my experimentation with pulling focus.

Day Two:
I asked my client if they could attach a Go-Pro onto one of the cars and film when they next went out in it. The client then gave me the footage to include in my video. This footage is some of my favourite in the video.

Day Three: My third and final filming session was the best one because I got most of footage just from this session. I managed to get perfect exposure with an ISO of 100 and therefore I was able to get all of my exterior footage on this day.

Visit Greece- Promotional video analysis

This promotional video is promoting the culture of Greece and where to visit to gain different parts of the Greek culture. Instead of using a voiceover or a presenter this video instead displays the information through labels on the screen. The non diegetic music used doesn't stereotypically sound like greek music. The music isn't relaxing but it also isn't too loud and overpowering but it does fit the style of the video. The video has the codes and conventions of a virtual tour as it points out the different parts of Greece and what is available for the tourists to do/see. Labels are used to show us the names of boats and a tagline that describes that boat such as Pausanias- the first travel guide'.  The video also features time lapses to show how the Greek architecture withstands the passing of time.
